Sports Broadcaster babe Rebecca Grant heats up Tournament Brackets for IHOP

Follow @rebeccagrants

Rebecca Grant is at the sports desk once again, this time for IHOP, where she appears in a series of commercials that will air during the Men’s Basketball Championship.

Rebecca comes to the IHOP family with an in depth knowledge of college basketball and a good appetite for breakfast at her favorite restaurant IHOP. While IHOP is open all the time and is not just for breakfast, the commercials Grant appears in are centered on breakfast and brackets.

Rebecca wanted everyone to remember that unlike other female sportscasters, Rebecca is a seasoned actress, and decided to do this role as a kind of ode to anchorman with a kitsch and a wink.

IHOP is actually giving away a year of breakfast just for “liking” their facebook page. (Well the official rules for winning are actually on the ihop facebook fan page, and 4 lucky winners will be awarded breakfast for a year)

Fans of Rebecca Grant, will finally be seeing the delicious sports babe talk about another sport besides NFL Football. “I’ve always loved college basketball, but the NFL paid better.”

Who’s ready for some basketball? The college basketball tournament begins in march, with the highly anticipated selection show on sunday march 11, where the brackets will be anounced. Following is a month-long battle of skill, sweat, and action packed games as the top collegiate teams fight for the Championship.

The Men’s College Division I Basketball Tournament is played with a single-elimination game between each team in their bracket. The tournament is held in the United States, and features 68 college basketball teams, in battle to win the national championship. The tournament’s college teams include 31 automatic bids from division 1  conferences (which mysteriously always seem to include Notre Dame), and 37 other college teams given bids based on various equations (which appear very fair, as compared to other college sports)

What is a “Bracket”?

A bracket in this college context can be defined as 68 college teams in total are placed in 4 regions with single elimination games.  Winning your matchup allows you to continue to another team in your bracket, that also won their game.

What is a “Seeding”?

Each of the 68 colleges are  “seeded”, or ranked, within its region. After their first 4 games between 8 lower seeded colleges, the tournament takes place over 3 weekends, at pre-selected neutral sites around the United States. Lower-seeded colleges are placed in the bracket against higher seeded schools. Each weekend cuts three-fourths of the teams, from a Round of 64, to the final 16, then onto the remaining 4. Its these remaining 4 teams that play the first week of April. These four teams, one from each region, battle it out in one destination for the United States college championship.
